PIA names 2008
IWAG awardees

 

The Philippine Information Agency has announced this year’s 46 IWAG awardees from various schools and universities in Western Visayas, a PIA press release said.

The IWAG award is an annual incentive designed by PIA in Region 6 to recognize young campus paper writers who excel in development communication.

Negros Occidental has 13 awardees for both high school and college level. In the high school level, they  are Camille Falle Flores of Negros Occidental High School; Ranel Ram Callet Cheng – St. John’s Institute; Jellymore Marie Jimena – West Negros University; Yanglee de la Fuente –Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod; Gerby Lynnnn Vallega – Fellowship Baptist School, Binalbagan; Janel Hans Zapata – Trinity Christian School; Angela Nonifara – Ang Tanglaw, Bacolod City National High School; Patrick Evandel Manlapaz – The City Light, Bacolod City National High School and IC Reach Causapin – Sum-ag National High School.

The college awardees are Aries Cariño, The Lead – University of St. La Salle; May Gee Salbibia – Carlos Hilado Memorial State College-Talisay City; Serafin Plotria Jr. – University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos; and Manuel Jeffrey Sistoso – The Spectrum, USLS, the press release said.

The IWAG awardees will be presented a gold medal and a citation during the school’s recognition or graduation day.

Since the creation of the IWAG awards in 1977, the PIA has awarded almost a thousand campus paper writers in the region, the press release added.*
