weekend up

St. John’s Institute sets its sights on four titles, while Queen of Peace School and St. Benilde School and Queen of Peace School are on track for three crowns as championship weekend unfolds in the 18th NOVA-NOCSF Age-Group Volleyball Championship at the University of St. La Salle Covered Courts in Bacolod City.

SJI is in the step-ladder semifinals of the girls’ 16-Under event, where it will meet Colegio San Agustin at 10:30 a.m. today to keep their title hopes alive. St. John’s is also in contention in the boys and girls’ 10-Under, and the boys’ 12-Under tournaments.

QPS, on the other hand, will be in action in the boys’ 14-Under as well as the boys and girls’ 10-Under events. St. Benilde sent its teams to the semifinals of the boys and girls’ 10-Under and the boys’ 14-Under.

Tough summer
grind for WNU Mustangs

A tough and hectic summer lies ahead for Bacolod City’s top collegiate basketball team.

The West Negros University Mustangs will embark on two major national tournaments and are eyeing a stint in another new league from April to May.

First up for the Mustangs, the nine-time defending NOPSSCEA champions, is the National Private Schools Athletic Association Meet in Zamboanga City from April 8-12 in Zamboanga City.
