The Bureau of Internal Revenue launched yesterday the Nationwide Rollout of Computerized Systems to build a comprehensive database necessary to support BIR’s collection and enforcement efforts, in its three district offices in Negros Occidental.
Through the NRCS, BIR aims to reduce the transaction processing time and encourage tax compliance through a broad tax base and modern work environment for its personnel, Rodita Galanto of BIR Bacolod said.
The core of the tax computerization program is the integrated tax system designed to automate and enhance the tax administration process which will maximize automation and minimize manual intervention in BIR operations, she said.


RDC backs tourism
bid of Sipalay
The Regional Development Council yesterday approved resolutions to boost tourism in Sipalay City and on a proposed port for Hinigaran town, Gov. Isidro Zayco said.
The Western Visayas RDC chaired by Antique Gov. Sally Perez met in Sipalay City on invitation of Mayor Soledad Montilla. Also present was Raul Banias, presidential assistant for Western Visayas, Zayco said.
Approved by the RDC was a resolution asking the Department of Environment and Natural Resources to assist Sipalay in identifying potential tourism sports for its master development plan, he said.


Organic acquaculture pushed
Delegates at an Expert Forum on Organic Aquaculture advocated that tilapia, shrimps, milkfish and other aquaculture products in Negros Occidental will reach maximum growth if produced under environmental-friendly conditions with no pesticides and toxins, a press release from the forum organizers said.
Participants discussed the difference between the conventional aquaculture and organic aquaculture, the latter employing an overall farm management system and food production that focuses on best environmental practices.
