Relieved cops
sent to Negros

BY GILBERT BAYORAN

Twelve of the 17 policemen who were relieved yesterday from Iloilo and Guimaras, allegedly for being “ineffective” and linked to various illegal activities, have been re-assigned to Negros Occidental, police records show.

Chief Supt. Isagani Cuevas, regional police director, yesterday said they need some “reformation” so they could be effective in the implementation of laws and maintenance of peace and order.

Cuevas, however, did not specify what illegal activities the 17 policemen were allegedly involved in but said that relief and transfer is a normal process in the police organization.

He said that if there is circumstantial evidence and they are not able to establish a case against them, what they do is remove them from areas where they are assigned to disassociate them from such activities, he said.

Senior Supt. Rosendo Franco, provincial police director, yesterday said the 12 policemen newly-assigned in Negros Occidental, should start to reform themselves.

Franco has recommended the dismissal from the police service of PO1 Brenold Jarina of the Sagay City Police Station, who tested positive for drugs and for the recovery of a tooter with traces of shabu from him at the Bacolod-Silay airport on March 19.

Given new assignments were  SPO1 Reynaldo Alan – Don Salvador Benedicto Police Station, SPO3 Anthony Gabiano – Toboso Police Station, SPO1 Rex de los Reyes – Ilog Police Station, SPO1 Ferdinand Garcia – Victorias City Police Station, SPOI Arnold Alabansas – Manapla Police Station, SPO2 Rene Donasco – Sipalay City Police Station;

SPO1 Gerard Rojo – Himamaylan City Police Station,  SPO1 Fred Blones – La Castellana Police Station,  SPO3 Salvador Gonzalesa,  Isabela Police Station, PO1 Godofredo Jamolo – Candoni Police Station, PO1  Anthony Grande – NOPPO, PO1 Neil Bana – 6th RMG and SPO3 Julius Froilan.

Five other policemen were re-assigned to far-flung police stations in Aklan and in Camp Crame.

Supt. Rolen Balquin, deputy provincial police director of Iloilo, meanwhile, has sought for transfer to the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office.

A second batch of policemen also linked to illegal activities in Western Visayas, are also up for transfer.

Cuevas said he will not give a second chance to erring policemen, if there are prima facie evidences against them.

He ordered the banning of policemen from entering cockpits, and organized the Integrity Task Force to arrest, investigate and file charges against scalawags in the police organization.*GPB
