| Cops, drivers exchange
raps due to traffic scuffle
The police officers and drivers who figured in a scuffle over a traffic altercation in Bacolod City two weeks ago said they will be trading charges over the incident, the parties said yesterday.
PO2 Mae Lumawag of the Bacolod City Police Office City Mobile Group said they have filed criminal cases against the drivers of Uytiepo Lines who allegedly mobbed her companions, PO1 Roberto Pineda Jr., PO1 Joey Genterola, and PO2 Alexis Disomangcop, around midnight on March 13.
Uytiepo Lines manager, Joemarie Uytiepo, meanwhile, said that their drivers are also mulling criminal and administrative charges against the BCPO-CMG members, but added, that their employees will handle the cases on their own.
Uytiepo had earlier said that they will help Elvis Divinagracia, Dionerico Dionson, and Rolly and Roland both surnamed Bayadog but yesterday, he said it will be up to the drivers to file the cases as they were the ones directly involved.
The conflict between the officers and the drivers stemmed from an alleged traffic violation by Dionson who drove his jeepney past the car that Lumawag, Pineda, Genterola, and Disomangcop were riding along B.S. Aquino Drive.
The other drivers allegedly mobbed the officer after Dionson fled towards their garage at Princess Urduja Street, Brgy. Villamonte, Bacolod, prompting Disomangcop to fire warning shots on the ground, hitting Divinigracia on the chest when one of the bullets ricocheted.
Romeo Baldevarona, Commission on Human Rights provincial officer, had encouraged the drivers to report the incident to them so they could investigate and file cases against the officers if there is probable cause.*PP
