| The killing of PO3 Danilo Malones in Cauayan, Negros Occidental, took a new twist after his wife, Maribel, claimed that an organized crime group, was behind the assassination of her husband on Feb. 8.
Malones said the killing of her husband had something to do with the transport of scrap iron from the Maricalum Mining Co. in Sipalay City.
She, however, positively identified Russel Langcoyan as the gunman who had killed her husband, with the participation of Robert and Felipe Domdom, who had served as look-outs.
Police said the arrest of three suspects also yielded a 9mm pistol.
Malones also said the arrested suspects are among the recruits of a certain Ka Randy, who is engaged in the scrap iron business in tandem with Vivencia Lauron Rex, the live-in partner of Langcoyan.
She admitted that her husband was among the policemen who intercepted scrap iron being transported from Sipalay City, while passing the Cauayan area.
Langcoyan and the Domdom brothers, who were arrested by soldiers during a pursuit operation in Brgy. Lina-on, Cauayan, and Rico Domdom who surrendered to the police, are facing murder with theft charges in court. They are now detained at the Provincial Jail of Negros Occidental.
Malones also called allegations hurled against her husband by the Roger Mahinay Command which claimed responsibility for his death, as all “lies”.
The rebel group also claimed in a statement, that the military and police have arrested those they called “innocent civilians” tagged as suspects in the assassination of Malones, an intelligence operative of the Cauayan Police Station.
They further alleged that Malones was a protector of robbery-hold-up group, engaged in “kotong” operations, mauling of civilians and the alleged killing of a certain Osting Salendron who was suspected to be a rebel, while he was still a member of the defunct Philippine Constabulary.*GPB
