| No mercy will be shown for a policeman arrested for illegal possession of drugs.
Senior Supt. Rosendo Franco, provincial police director, yesterday said he will recommend the dismissal from the police service, of Police Officer 1 Brenold Jarina after he was arrested for having traces of shabu and its paraphernalia in his possession at the airport in Silay City, on March 19.
Police records also showed that Jarina, who is now detained at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Silay City, had tested positive for drug use.
Franco also revealed attempts of a retired colonel to intervene in behalf Jarina, which he said he ignored.
Jarina is facing charges for violation of Sections 12 and 15 of RA 9165, known as the Comprehensive Drug Act of 2002, before the Silay City Prosecutor’s Office.
Charges for illegal possession of firearms were also filed yesterday against Police Officer 2 Allan Baguio, a member of the Santa Catalina Police Station in Negros Oriental, before the City Prosecutor’s Office of San Carlos.
Supt. Harold Tuzon, San Carlos police chief, said, Baguio who was arrested for illegal possession of firearms on Tuesday, has been on AWOL (absent-without-leave) status for two months now.
Investigations showed that Baguio had been disarmed for illegal discharge of firearms in December last year, and complaints that he had threatened his mother-in-law with a gun, in Santa Catalina.
Franco, on the other hand, said the shooting of Tirso Mullon,38, by PO3 Rex Siason, a member of the Ilog Police Station, was an act of self-defense.
Mullon allegedly sexually-harassed the daughter of Siason, who was celebrating her birthday on March 23 at a beach resort in Brgy. Tiling, Cauayan.
Siason was also ganged up on by the companions of Mullon, whom he had boxed in the head, for harassing his daughter, despite his repeated appeal to the victim to stop.*GPB
