| The University of St. La Salle in Bacolod City announced yesterday the schedule for its college varsity tryouts and 2008 sports summer camps.
Aspiring basketball players who are eyeing a slot with the USLS Stingers can join the tryout on April 1-12, 7 to 9:30 a.m., Monday to Saturday at the USLS college covered court with coaches Troy Sarabia and Leo Casinillo.
La Salle chess coach Irving Occeña will hold a two-day tryout for potential woodpushers on April 11-12, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the USLS Cafeteria while volleyball coaches Roger Banzuela, Malot Lozada, Tito Java and Carl Steven Barredo will hold the tryout on April 24-29 and May 19-23, 8 to 11 a.m. at the covered court.
For table tennis, tryouts started yesterday and another schedule is set tomorrow at 2 to 4 p.m. at the covered court dug-out.
Interested table tennis athletes can also join the tryouts on March 29, April 22, 24 and 29 at 9 to 11 a.m. On May 5-7, schedule of tryout will be at 9 to 11 a.m. and 2 to 4 p.m.
Tryouts for athletics men and women will be on April 21-May15 at 4 to 6 p.m. at the USLS track oval with coaches Inocentes Maquino Jr., Sulpicio Fuene, and Marife Guili while taekwondo coach Ric Relon will hold the tryout on April 22 to May 8, 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon at the covered court bleacher and badminton men and women on May 12-17, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the covered court with coach Jay Biñas.
Swimming coaches Annabelle Clamor and Jesusa Abanto will hold a one-day tryout on May 17, 7 to 9 a.m. at the USLS swimming pool, lawn tennis men and women on May 10, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the university’s lawn tennis court with coach Reynaldo Alipala; sepak takraw on May 12-30, 3 to 6 p.m. at the covered court with coach Lilybeth Castor; and football men and women on May 12-30, 3 to 6 p.m. at the USLS football field with coaches Freddie Lazarito and Ramon Janeo.
Meanwhile, schedule for USLS Hoop Basketball Camp 2008, for 6-14 years old boys and girls will be on April 1-12, 1 to 3 p.m. for the first batch and April 28 to May 10 for the second batch.
To be conducted by the USLS basketball coaching staff assisted by varsity players, the summer camp will charge a registration fee of P1,000 per participant.*NAB
