A call to the LTO

Through your widely-read newspaper, I am writing again, this time to call the attention of our LTO officers and other concerned government officials regarding the many cars and SUVs with different plate numbers other than what is prescribed by the LTO, but which can be seen in our streets and roads in Bacolod City anytime of the day.

The other day, I saw a vehicle in Lacson Street with plate number 88888, while yesterday morning at the corner of B.S. Aquino Drive-La Salle there was a car with an EU plate, with the insignia of the European Union on it.  Just this morning at 8th-Lacson Street, I saw a car with plate number Jer. 3:33 in front but with no corresponding plate number at the back.

I am not singling out the owners of the cars and SUVs that I have just mentioned.  What I want to emphasize is that there are many cars and SUVS in our roads in Bacolod that  have illegal plate numbers. Are these allowed by the LTO?  If not allowed, are these cars registered with the LTO also? If other people are observant enough, I know they have seen also some cars with different plate numbers, other than what I have mentioned.

I am not a lawyer, but I think having a different plate number is a violation of our law and is unfair to us law-abiding motorists.  Thank you.

Very truly yours,
