A policeman shot a man for allegedly sexually harassing his daughter who was celebrating her birthday at a beach resort in Brgy. Tiling, Cauayan, Negros Occidental, Sunday.

The victim being treated for a gunshot wound in the left shoulder at the Hinobaan District Hospital, was identified as Tirso Mullon, 38.

Initial police investigations show that PO3 Rex Siason, a member of the Ilog police force, was also treated for injuries after being mauled by the companions of Mullon who was believed to be under the influence of alcoholic liquor when the incident took place.

In his report to Senior Supt. Rosendo Franco, Senior Inspector Louie Figueroa, Cauayan police chief, said the daughter of Siason was singing at a videokee house, when she was harassed sexually by Mullon twice.

Apparently irked, Siason reportedly boxed Mullon. This prompted the companions of Mullon to rescue him, and gang up the police officer.

Siason, who managed to free himself, got his service firearm and shot Mullon, police investigations also showed.

Supt. Jerry Bartolome, Operations chief of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, said Siason had even observed maximum tolerance, as he even advised Mullon to calm down, and stop harassing his daughter.*GPB
