| Bacolod City Legal Officer Allan Zamora yesterday said he will submit his recommendation to the mayor on the purchase of 10 dump trucks for the Solid Waste Management program of the city on or before April 6, 2008.
Robert Balansag, the salesman of Commercial Motors Corp., failed to show up during the scheduled investigation of the City Legal Office on the purchase of the trucks on March 6.
His lawyer informed Zamora that they will instead submit an affidavit, as it would be costly for his client to come to Bacolod.
Zamora said that whether Balansag submits his affidavit or not, he will submit his recommendation to Mayor Evelio Leonardia on the date he stated.
Leonardia had directed Zamora to look into the alleged irregularities in the purchase by the city government of the ten six-wheeler dump trucks because of the claims of Balansag that there was an “SOP (standard operating procedure)” involved.
The dump trucks (NJ 1038) purchased by the city reportedly costs P750,000 per unit, but because of alleged “SOP” the cost had climbed to P895,000 per unit.
Leonardia informed CMC last month that the city was recalling the award for the purchase of the vehicles for the Department of Public Services, pending the result of an investigation on the allegations.*CGS
