| A second public hearing on the proposed increase of terminal fees at the Iloilo and Bacolod-Silay airports has been set by the Air Transportation Office next month, a Philippine News Agency report said.
ATO Iloilo manager Allan Java said he hopes the hearing on the second week of April will be the last, and that, they can submit their recommendation to the Department of Transportation and Communication after it.
The initial public hearings were held Feb. 14 and 15 for Iloilo and Bacolod-Silay airports, respectively.
Java said in the PNA report that there is a need for increase in terminal fees because of the high operational expenses of the two new airports.
The proposed increase is from the present terminal fee of P30 to P150 for passenger service and from P50 to P200 per square on space rental for gift and coffee shops.
Increases in landing fees and parking spaces are also being proposed, the PNA report said.
The P5.6-billion Bacolod-Silay airport opened Jan. 18 and may soon be opened to international flights, initially from other Southeast Asian countries.*
