BISHOP URGES
Sacrifices needed
BY NIDA BUEANFE

The Easter celebration should be observed with solemnity and open hearts by all Filipinos, especially the people of Bacolod City, Bacolod Bishop Vicente Navarra said yesterday.

“Just as the Lord has shown, a sacrifice is needed to live out the message of the resurrection and we can hope for better things if we follow Christ’s example,” the bishop said.

He added that to stand up for what is right and to speak the truth always should be the people’s contribution to the sacrifice made by the Lord.

Earlier, Navarra called on the people, especially the youth, to make generosity and charity not just a practice during Lent but a way of life.

He also called on the young generation to take active participation in the activities of the Church and to practice positive values.

The Bacolod Diocese ended the celebration yesterday of the Holy Week with a mass for the children at the San Sebastian Cathedral followed by games at the Capitol Lagoon.

Other religious denominations in Bacolod City also observed the Sunday of resurrection with various activities in their churches.*NAB
