Cellphone snatcher
nabbed in procession

BY PATRICK PANGILINAN

A man who grabbed the cellphone of a woman in a Holy Week procession in Bacolod City was nabbed by law enforcers, minutes later, the police said yesterday.

Carlo Nuñez, 35, of Brgy. 16, Bacolod, was arrested by policemen and traffic aides after snatching the cellphone of a female churchgoer during the procession of the Holy Sepulcher near the San Sebastian Cathedral at Rizal Street, Bacolod, at about 7 p.m. Friday, Police Station 1 commander, Chief Inspector Noel Manaay, said.

Nuñez, who admitted the crime, was nabbed after the complainant reported him to patrolling policemen, Manaay said.

He also said they did not chase the suspect to avoid causing panic among the people in the procession but waited until they had surrounded Nuñez who was caught with the cellphone.*PP
