Province  gets
rabies vaccines

BY MARICAR ARANAS

Negros Oriental received 500 dosages of anti-rabies vaccines from the Animal Division of the Department of Agriculture this month in line with the national rabies awareness month celebration.

The vaccines will be equally distributed to the cities and municipalities in the province.

The  agriculture department  declared war against  rabies  recently by launching the  Rabies  Prevention  Program  2010  in  the provinces.

The program is aimed at eliminating rabies contamination by promoting responsible pet ownership, and having the animals vaccinated.

The  program  aims to  minimize  the  incidence of  deaths due  to rabies by 2010.

Negros Oriental will create a Task Force Anti-rabies to be composed of representatives from the different local government units.

Meanwhile, the provincial rabies laboratory will soon be operational and the province is now preparing the documents for the bidding of an incubator.*MA
