Daughter kills pa;
4 others slain, too
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

The killing of a father by the daughter he had allegedly molested two years ago was among the seven bloody incidents in Negros Occidental during the observance of the Holy Week, where four other persons lost their lives, police records show.

The lifeless body of Rolando Cunanan, 56, hogtied and with multiple hack wounds, was found yesterday in a nipa hut in Brgy. Pandanon Silos, Murcia.

SPO1 Frisco Lobaton, Murcia PNP desk officer, yesterday said they found a letter at the crime scene, allegedly written by Imee Cunanan, who claimed responsibility for the killing.moremoremore

Brownouts in
Negros to continue
BY CARLA GOMEZ

Negros Island will continue to suffer from brownouts brought on by power shortages during peak hours, especially during the summer, Zosimo Briones, district manager of the National Transmission Corp. in Negros, said yesterday.

Negros Island now consumes 200 megawatts of power and the Palinpinon Geothermal Power Plant in Palinpinon, Negros Oriental, only produces 170 megawatts, he said.

The newly built Northern Negros Geothermal Power Plant in Bago City, Negros Occidental  only produces 4 to 5 megawatts of power instead of the expected 49 megawatts, Briones also pointed out.moremoremore

No rice shortage in
Neg. Occ.: NFA
BY CARLA GOMEZ

There is no rice shortage in Negros Occidental despite fears raised by some national politicians.

National Food Authority records as of March 19 showed that Negros Occidental had a total rice inventory of 1.4 million bags to last 61 days, Gov. Isidro Zayco  said.

Zayco said he was also informed that NFA also expects 120,000 bags of Vietnam rice to be delivered to Negros Occidental in early April.moremoremore
