Rep. Ignacio Arroyo Jr. (Neg. Occ., 5th District) is urging the public to make deposits in the newly opened Negros Cooperative Bank in Bacolod City to help the cooperative movement of the province.
Arroyo, who spoke at the formal opening of the bank at the Capitol Lagoon Park along North Capitol Road in Bacolod City Wednesday, made an initial deposit in the bank of P500,000 from his personal funds.
The formal inauguration of the bank was held on March 19 to mark what would have been the 74th birthday of Gov. Joseph Marañon. A mass was also held at the provincial Capitol in Bacolod City on Wednesday to mark the birthday of the late governor who passed away on March 13.

Computerization of
BIR Region 12 set
The computerization of the Bureau of Internal Revenue Region 12 in Bacolod City will be introduced this week as part of the agency’s Nationwide Rollout of Computerized Systems.
BIR 12 Regional Director Rodita Galanto announced at the recent launching of the Tax Campaign 2008 that the roll-out schedule is on March 27 and 28.
NRCS is being implemented by the BIR to extend the use of its Integrated Tax System across its remaining non-computerized Revenue District Offices. It aims to build a comprehensive taxpayer database that will be used to support collection and enforcement efforts.

Senators urge Arroyo gov’t
to boldly address rice crisis
Three senators urged in separate statements yesterday the Arroyo administration to initiate bold moves to address the rice crisis.
Senator Loren Legarda said the government should push new strategies for the country to become rice self-sufficient in two to three months.
Legarda said that, since rice is an extremely sensitive political commodity, a big surge in its price is bound to spur social unrest and political instability.
