Precision and accuracy was the name of the game and multi-titled Stephen Hinojales and Janette Gonzaga of the Gun Club of Negros Occidental delivered some noteworthy performances in the first National Range Officers Institute Nationals in Lapu Lapu City, Cebu.

Hinojales topped the open division, besting the likes of Jag Lejano, KJ Morales, Blairwin Ortega and Jethro Dionisio in the level 3 event that also serves as a qualifier for the World Shoot in Indonesia later this year.

dream shattered

NEGRENSE LOST FOCUS, OFFICIALS SAY
BY CEDELF TUPAS

An Olympic dream lifted by a golden performance in the Asian Games close to two years ago went up in smoke Monday night.

Fighting way off-form, Bacolod’s Joan Tipon was unceremoniously bundled out by Uzbekistan’s H. Todjivayev, 30-8, in the first round of the final Asian Olympic Boxing Qualifying Tournament at the Sports Palace in Astana, Kazakhstan.

The loss leaves Cadiz-born pug Godfrey Castro as the only remaining hope to have a Negrense boxer in the Beijing Olympics in August.

X BAC captures
first BUSG title

Sizzling offense from Zaldy Navarra keyed X BAC’s victory in the 1st Basketball Unified Sports quadrangular title.

XBAC scored a 72-65 victory over D’Axial Engineering in their recent championship showdown at Lopue’s South Square in Bacolod City.

Navarra made 26 points while teammates Biboy Java delivered 13 and Melvin Baclay contributed 10 for X BAC.
