| Negros Occidental’s medalists in the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet will receive their incentives from the Provincial Government on Monday in ceremonies at the Social Hall at the Capitol.
This was disclosed yesterday by Vice Gov. Emilio Yulo III, who said that officials are fast-tracking the processing of the paper work related to the athletes’ incentives.
Gov. Isidro Zayco and Yulo led the welcoming party that greeted the athletes yesterday when they arrived at the Bacolod Reclamation Area.
Negros swept the overall championship in both the elementary and secondary divisions of the regional Palaro that ended Monday in San Jose, Antique.
The victory came at a time when the province was mourning the death of Gov. Joseph Marañon, who died Thursday.
Yulo said he will push for the creation of Task Force Palaro that will help oversee the preparations for the Palarong Pambansa in Palawan next month.
A Task Force Palaro was also created during the 2006 Palaro in Naga City.
Yulo said he is also pushing for teams to train as early as possible for the Palaro.
“Some of the teams, like elementary basketball, have already mapped out their training programs,” he said. “I hope all the teams also do the same so we could ensure victory in Palawan”. *CPT
