GCNO standouts
on-target in nat’l tilt

BY CEDLEF TUPAS

Precision and accuracy was the name of the game and multi-titled Stephen Hinojales and Janette Gonzaga of the Gun Club of Negros Occidental delivered some noteworthy performances in the first National Range Officers Institute Nationals in Lapu Lapu City, Cebu.

Hinojales topped the open division, besting the likes of Jag Lejano, KJ Morales, Blairwin Ortega and Jethro Dionisio in the level 3 event that also serves as a qualifier for the World Shoot in Indonesia later this year.

Hinojales came out on top after 15 stages, where the super 38 was the weapon of choice.

Gonzaga, the GCNO president, was also on-target, ruling the production division (9mm) in her first attempt at the event, sanction by the Philippine Practical Shooting Association.

“There were a lot of stages. We needed to be accurate. Good thing we were able to train well,” she said.

The GCNO president later teamed up with Tootsie Anglo, Andy Gonzaga and Leonard Gonzaga to win the team event in the production division.

Andy Gonzaga also placed second in the semi-auto shotgun, where Anglo finished third in the tournament that drew more than 320 shooters. *CPT
