seeks P15M loan

The Organic Products in the Island of Negros Multi-Purpose Cooperative is seeking a P14.928 million loan from the Department of Agriculture under the Agriculture Competitive Enhancement Fund for the procurement of additional equipment and facilities for its muscovado sugar mill in Sagay City.

The project cost totals P73.087 million, including the proponent’sequity of P58.159 million. The proposal of the OPTION MPC has already been approved by the ACEF Regional Technical Committee and is awaiting the endorsement of the National Technical Committee.

OPTION MPC intends to construct a smoke stack, construction of spray pond and purchase additional machinery such as welding machine, cutting outfit, rod holder, electric grinder, lathe machine, generator set, transformer, pay loader, forklift, service dump truck, truck sale and service pick-up.

Agriculture Secretary Arthur Yap visited last Friday the Sagay Muscovado Sugar Mill whose equipment is installed in a factory building located in a 40,000-square meter compound.

The sugar mill, donated by Japan Agriculture of Okinawa, was entirely shipped from Iejima Island in Okinawa to Sagay City.
Owned and managed by sugarcane planters, it will produce 500 metric tons of organic sugar per day.*NLG
