MANILA - The Philippine government has bought 335,500 tons of rice for $237.5 million to offset an expected shortfall in domestic production, the National Food Authority said yesterday.
The rice will be imported mainly from Vietnam, Thailand and Pakistan, said the NFA which is the agency tasked with importing rice, the country's staple.
The price varied from $618 to $745 a metric tons, depending on the quality of the grain, the authority said.

with deed of donation’
The Bacolod City government has complied with the condition in the deed of donation it had entered into with Antonio Lizares concerning the property in Brgy. 35, Bacolod City, which houses the old slaughterhouse, Bacolod City Legal Officer Allan Zamora said yesterday.
The only condition in the contract was for the city government to construct a public slaughterhouse and roads leading to and adjoining the facility, he said.
No condition for the continued use and maintenance of the existing slaughterhouse was mandated, he added.
