Fire hits 6 houses
BY PATRICK PANGILINAN

At least six houses were razed by a 30-minute fire in Bacolod City last night, radio and fire bureau reports said.

Six houses, including that of Edith Malacaman, where the flames allegedly started, were gutted by the blaze in Brgy. 25, Bacolod that started around 8 p.m. yesterday, Radyo Agong and Aksyon Radyo reported.

Another house was damaged by the fire, the Radyo Agong report said.

The report said the fire broke out from an unattended candle at Malacaman’s residence and the damage to the houses was estimated to be about P1 million.

SFO1 Rene Ernesto Mellizo of the Bureau of Fire Protection, said, they received the call from 117 at about 8:05 p.m. and it was declared under control at about 8:37 on the same night.

As of 10 p.m. yesterday, however, Mellizo said no official report from their team on the cause of the fire or the amount of damage and number of injuries was available yet as they were still doing their mapping operations.

He said five trucks from the BFP responded to the call and teams from the Amity and Chamber fire brigades also helped.

Earlier yesterday, the house of Alfredo Arroyo in Purok Katilingban, Brgy. Alijis, Bacolod, was also gutted by a fire that reportedly started from an unattended electric fan.*PP
