| The Integrated Taxation Program of Negros Oriental has drawn several invitations from governors across the country, German Technical Cooperation representative Dieter Fuchs said yesterday.
He said the GTZ received eight invitations from the different provinces in the country showing interest in adopting the I-tax system.
Negros Oriental is the center for I-tax development in the Philippines, being the only province in the country which piloted it.
Fuchs challenged the governors of interested provinces to have real political will to strictly impose the program. Under the program, all taxes will be collected and monitored to the last centavo, he pointed out.
The I-tax software is given for free, but the LGUs must invest in computers that are compatible with the program, he said.
They are also willing to extend the program to other provinces, but they still have to complete its implementation in the eleven pilot LGUs in Negros Oriental, Fuchs said.
GTZ, he said, aims to complete the I-tax program in all municipalities and cities in Negros Oriental before the year ends.
The pilot LGUs include Bayawan City, Dumaguete City, Zamboanguita, Valencia, Sibulan, San Jose , Amlan, Pamplona, Mabinay, Manjuyod and Bindoy.
At present the municipality of Valencia has successfully started the I-tax implementation while Zamboanguita , Sibulan and San Jose will soon finalize their own programs.
The I-tax was introduced in the province through an agreement signed by the Philippine and German governments. It is implemented with technical support from the GTZ, and designed to help improve revenue collection of LGUs.*MA
