ANGARA SAYS
I hope NBN
hearings end soon

BY CARLA GOMEZ

Senator Edgardo Angara Saturday said he wishes the Senate hearings on the controversial National Broadband Network deal comes to an end soon and some definite recommendations are made, because a lot of time has already been devoted to it.

“I think we have enough evidence on record to make recommendations, so I just hope this long and protracted process comes to an end so we can devote our time to other pressing matters,” Angara, who was in Bacolod to pay his last respects to Gov. Joseph Marañon whose remains were at the Capitol in Bacolod City Saturday, said.

“We have to show something to our people in terms of legislative production,” Angara said.

Angara said he has not attended the NBN hearings because his law office is lawyering for ZTE so he does not want any appearance of conflict of interest.

As to Rodolfo Noel Lozada, Senate witness on the NBN deal, who has been speaking at various school campuses, Angara said “ultimately it may tell on his credibility.”

“People will start asking is there a political purpose to all these visitations,” Angara said.*CPG
