Premiering the
fashion season

It was the first fashion event of the year. The very party place, the El Camino Blanco, was filled to the rafters with fashion connoisseurs, young and old, who came to see what was wearable and who wore it.

Let’s not kid ourselves, many came to see what the guys and gals were going to wear under the garments cuz the show was advertised as a Mossimo Undergarment Show as the headliner!

Nonetheless, the show put together by Dumaguete’s premiere impresario Toto Marquez and his partner Jasun Penales was a work of good taste. They very craftily put together frocks and getups from the different chic boutiques newly opened at the attractive West Portal Building. Water lily and Mixed Berries (atelier of Mavi and Christopher Ng) casual street chic were innovative, different and so today. Of course they were wearable! The hues of the dresses were as varied as the color of berries, raspberry, gooseberry, blueberry, strawberry and what have you!

Il Primo attires of debonair Prem Bernadez, were just as noteworthy, gals adorable, and guys eye-catching. Cebu’s ingenious couturier Harley Ruedas showed his collection of gowns in different shapes and forms, all draped in the right places, in tiger print fabrics. His day dresses and cocktail wear had matching handbags, so, so pretty and feminine, not to mention Parisienne. The Hotmen collection was just that, sizzling hot. Tees hand painted with male erotica! The highlight was as expected, sizzling and becoming.

First with Mossimo t-shirts and skinny jeans, then just the jeans sans tees for the men and bra tops for the ladies, and lastly the world famed and notorious Mossimo undergarments.

What made the segment eye-candy were the Adonis like torsos of the hunks and the Venus-like shapes of the gals. Oh my, what dedication and hard work at the gym can do? The glamour addition was the hairstyles and make up of working socialite Maria Havranek of Cuttin Loose beauty mecca.

Of social noteworthiness was that all these were for a noble cause, the recipient of the night proceeds was SU TB-DOTS headed by Dr. Mercedes Ursos. No wonder so many of the medical field were spotted in the crowd. It was an evening of fashion both stated and understated.
