| A training for auxiliary police and police aides on how to respond to crime alarm and other related police matters is being proposed by Senior Insp. Errol Garchitorena, police chief of Sibulan, Negros Oriental.
Majority of the police aides and auxiliary police personnel have trained only on rescue operation, he said.
Garchitorena said they will include in the training the tanods from the different barangays of the town, as they are considered as force multiplier of enlisted policemen.
Part of his program plan is to strengthen the Barangay Intelligence Network that was originally established by PNP Provincial Director, Senior Supt. Melvin Buenafe, Garchitorena added.
The best implementers of peace and order are the people in the community, he also stressed.
Meanwhile, the Sibulan police station has transferred to its new location to the former Public Information and Employment Services and Municipal Circuit Trial Court building beside the Sibulan Park.
The new place is more visible to the community and is strategically located near the national highway and the parish church, Garchitorena said.
They also plan to rehabilitate the police station so that it will appear “friendly,” and with its image, the community will feel comfortable visiting the place. *MA
