| Robbery and swindling charges have been filed against the two suspects arrested by law enforcers late Wednesday, the police said yesterday.
Robbery cases were lodged against lovers Michael Ray Contreras, 27, and Sheila Luable, 21, at the Bacolod City Prosecutor’s Office yesterday, Police Station 3 commander, Chief Inspector Leonardo Borromeo, said.
Police Station 4 commander, Chief Inspector Santiago Rapiz, meanwhile, said two counts of swindling charges were also filed against the two.
Contreras and Luable were nabbed by a police team led by Borromeo in Brgy. Bubog, Talisay City, Negros Occidental, at about 10:45 p.m. Wednesday after weeks of pretending to be the relatives of at least 12 different families in the province and stealing an estimated P2 million in cash and valuables.
Meanwhile, Borromeo said Contreras had told him, after follow-up interrogation sessions, that his real name is Jonathan Tomacruz and that Contreras is his middle name.
Bacolod City Police Office deputy director, Supt. Leo Erwin Agpangan, on the other hand, said they have started recovering the items the suspects have stolen.
A laptop computer and a flat screen processor valued at around P100,000, were recovered by police officers from a pawnshop in Bacolod Thursday night, Agpangan said.
He said they are eyeing other business establishments and individuals who may have bought certain items from Tomacruz and Luable.
Agpangan also called on people who may have been victimized by the two to coordinate with them for the filing of more charges and the recovery of their properties.*PP
