St. John’s Institute Class ’82 recently held its grand alumni homecoming. The event was attended by more than 1,500 guests. Sumptuous buffet dinner seemed endless while two mobile cocktail bars and four beer stations kept drinks flowing the whole nightlong!
Various food carts of fishballs, lumpiang-ubod, pork barbeque, salted peanuts, ice cream and shawarma provided endless servings of pica-pica for the early birds. The day began with a Mass at the Queen of Peace Church officiated by SJI’s pioneer priest-alumnus, Fr. Roberto Jaranilla of Class ’82, who flew in from L.A.
Also jetting in were fellow classmates from abroad. Among the program highlights was the crowning of Dr. Antonella Legaspi as Tribal Queen and various broadway hits. Manila’s Hyperbeat Band ensured a night of non-stop partying. Class ’82 jammed with them on stage singing the hit 70’s tune “Umagang Kay Ganda.” When the 80’s song medley was played, everyone was in their dancing shoes and having a great time.
After a day of rest, the classmates, with their respective children proceeded to Ayala Plantazionne Clubhouse to celebrate family day together with their teachers.
Kudos to event chairman Dr. Joebert Abello, program head Dennis Ong, batch president Jojo Ponce, Vladimir Velez, Starlyn Uy, Mary Jone Sy and members for a very successful homecoming.*
