| Gov. Emilio Macias II welcomed newly installed 302nd Infantry Brigade commander Col. Cesar Yano, who vowed to head the counter-insurgency campaigns in Negros Oriental.
Macias welcomed the military unit leader as he highlighted his administration’s ongoing development projects in his province.
Yano, on the other hand, briefed Macias on his program of action aimed at touching base with the locals, especially in the remote communities, and to educate them about the nature of the 40-year-old insurgency in the country and its bad effects to the economy.
A similar program will be conducted at the municipal level to further educate opinion makers and key communicators on the matter.
Yano said the ongoing efforts of the local governments in leading the fight against poverty will have lasting beneficial effects in terms of the people’s well-being.
He assured the governor that during his watch, the discipline of his troops is non-negotiable, saying that anybody from his command who commits any breach of discipline will be sanctioned.
Similarly, respect for human rights is paramount in every soldier’s undertaking. units of Bohol and Cebu for seven years by providing physical and psychological security in the communities, allowing unhampered delivery of basic services especially to the remote places of these provinces, Yano added.*RG
