| Charges of robbery-in-band were filed against eight suspected members of the New People’s Army who had raided a police outpost and disarmed two militiamen of their firearms in Brgy. Vito, Sagay City, on Feb. 29.
Supt. William Señoron, Sagay police chief, yesterday said one of the eight respondents who is now facing charges before the Sagay City Prosecutor’s Office, was identified as Archie Jimenez, alias Ka Ivan.
Señoron said Jimenez, a rebel leader of the Komiteng Larangan-Northern Negros, was positively identified by a witness through a picture shown to him.
The Roselyn Jean Pelle Command, which was responsible for the raid of a police outpost in Escalante City, in 2005, also claimed responsibility for the raid and disarming of two militiamen, manning the Community Police Assistance Center in Brgy. Vito, Sagay City.
The raid also resulted in the relief of SPO1 Malinter Gatinao, SPO1 Remegio Cabaluna and PO3 Crispulo de la Vega and the two militiamen, pending investigations of the incident.
Troopers of the 6th Regional Mobile Group have temporarily beefed up the Sagay policemen manning the raided COMPAC station.
They have also intensified their visibility operations in the coastal areas of Sagay City, in coordination with the 6th RMG and 15th Infantry Battalion, after the rebels who raided the police outpost, fled on board a motorboat, Senoron said.*GPB
