Negrense athletes plunge into action in elementary and secondary high jump and shotput as well as the 3000m and 5000m runs.

Palarong Pambansa veteran Bon Daryl Lagunday of Bago City will spearhead the bunch of athletes competing today.

Lagunday will vie for the secondary boys’ shotput gold. Another Bago athlete competing is Devy Isada, who will see action in the elementary girls’ division.

Sagay’s Roed Bais will compete in elementary boys’ high jump, while Melody Filomeno vies in the secondary girls’ category.

Also scheduled today are the trials in the 110m, 100m and 400m hurdles, 100m and 200m sprints and the 800m run.

Expected to compete in the heats are Richmar Villaluz, the top athlete in the Provincial Palaro, who ruled the elementary boys’ century dash, elementary girls’ standout Erma Rose Ganao and high school bets Rolando Uberas and Ana Marie Jagocoy.

Team titles in athletics are worth 30 points each in the overall championship.

A separate scoring system is applied in determining the team champions in athletics, where the top finisher is given 7 points.*CPT
