| Thirteen of fourteen arrested employees of four entertainment dens along the Sum-ag highway in Bacolod City shutdown Tuesday night were found to have sexually transmitted diseases, the City Health Office reported yesterday.
The Bacolod City Legal Office will file multiple charges against the owners of the four entertainment shops - Margie’s, Elma, Acci, and Food Way -- for lack of business and sanitation permits, City Legal Officer 3 Vicente Petierre III said.
The CLO will also file charges against their proprietors for employing women with no health cards, he said.
CHO Social Hygiene chief, Dr. Babylin Baliguas-Drilon, said 13 of the 14 persons apprehended tested positive for sexually-transmitted diseases.
The 13 have been given medication and are required to undergo regular checkups at the CHO until they are cured, she said.
A team composed of members of the CLO, CHO, and Police Station 9 conducted the raids 10 p.m. Tuesday.
The shops staged floor shows, served drinks, and had VIP rooms for couples, which are not allowed under city regulations, Petierre had said earlier.
Dr. Salome Biñas, acting city health officer, said workers of such establishments should visit the CHO once a week for examinations to ensure that they are free of STD.*PP
