Tuting skeptical
on party merger

BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

Dumaguete City Mayor Agustin Perdices said yesterday that he is skeptical about the merger of the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats headed by House Speaker Prospero Nograles with the Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Perdices said this is easier said than done, because  so many politicians interested in running for the 2010 national and local elections are from both camps.

The harder part is for both parties to agree on a single candidate, Perdices pointed out.

Another problem is on how to go about it in the local level, as both parties have early bets for various positions.

Meanwhile, Perdices said it is still premature for him to announce what position he will be seeking. I belong to the “party of the people,” he added.*JG
