| The Diocese of San Carlos will culminate her Diocesan Synod with a concelebrated mass at the San Carlos Borromeo Cathedral in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, tomorrow.
San Carlos Bishop Jose Advincula Jr., had convoked the Diocesan Synod with the theme: “I have come that you may have life, life in its fullness.”
The Synod was held to examine and determine the direction of the Diocese 20 years after it was created, Monsignor Dodo Dejilla of the Diocese of San Carlos said.
The synod also evaluated the diocesan pastoral programs and activities to ensure their relevance to the vision-mission of the diocese, he said.
The clergy, diocesan and religious men and women, and the lay leaders were also consulted on matters that affect the Diocese and her people.
The Synod proper, that started last Jan. 8, 2008, was preceded by the consultations at the parish level, and the parish mini-synods that took place from January to December 2007 in all the parishes and quasi-parishes of the Diocese. Out of these consultations several relevant resolutions were collated, Dejilla said.
This Synod has been participated in by 120 delegates, 50 percent of whom are priests, diocesan and religious, as well as religious women, and the rest are lay men and women who represent their parishes.
The culmination event will be highlighted by a concelebrated Holy Mass and the ordination of two seminarians to deaconate, a step toward priesthood, at the San Carlos Borromeo Cathedral 10 a.m. tomorrow.
The participants of the Synod will also be recognized together with all the various committees that were created to make the Synod a reality, Dejilla said.*
