Contractor seeks SP nod
for slaughterhouse ECC

The contractor of the new slaughterhouse in Brgy. Handumanan, Bacolod City is requesting the Sangguniang Panlungsod for a resolution endorsing the project to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources for the issuance of an Environmental Compliance Certificate.

Joy Ignacio, authorized representative of the Bacolod City Slaughterhouse, made the request to Councilor Alex Paglumotan, chairman of the Committee on Markets, in her letter dated March 6, 2008.

Attached to her letter is a resolution unanimously approved by the Brgy. Handumanan Council endorsing the project to the DENR for the issuance of an ECC.

Award for buffer
zone passed evaluation

The Mt. Kanlaon Natural Park buffer zone geothermal area awarded to the  Philippine National Oil Co.-Energy Development Corp. went through an evaluation process extending for five and a half years, a press release from the firm said yesterday.

The review included that of Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the Park Board from February 1996 to March 1997, Provincial Development Council from June 1997 to October 1997, Regional Development Council from October 1997 to March 1998, and Congressional hearings from August 2000 to June 2001, the press release said.

“We conducted several consultations from September 1996 to January 1997.  We also secured the required endorsement from the Park Board after the review of the Provincial Development Council and the Regional Development Council,” Gino dela Cruz, resident manager of PNOC EDC’s Northern Negros Geothermal Power Plant said.

Yearly productivity bonus
for private workers urged

The granting of an annual productivity bonus to workers from the private sector is being pushed by Cavite Rep. Joseph Emilio Abaya to promote mutual benefit and industrial harmony between labor and management.

Abaya, who filed House Bill 3391 on Granting Productivity Incentive Bonus for labor, said it will not only serve as additional income but will also be an incentive for greater productivity.

This increased productivity will definitely benefit the business enterprise, the solon said in a statement.
