Boy hit by jeep dies
BY PATRICK PANGILINAN

An 11-year-old boy was killed when he was hit by a jeepney in Bacolod City during the weekend, the police said yesterday.

Carl Moreno did not notice the jeepney driven by Pollymar Fernando as he crossed a street in Brgy. Sum-ag, Bacolod at about 4 p.m. Sunday, PO2 Randy Bianzon of the Bacolod City Police Office Traffic Management Unit, said.

The boy was declared dead on arrival at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, Bianzon said.

Carl’s father, Alexis, said his son’s dream of being a police officer would no longer come true.

Fernando, on the other hand, surrendered to Police Station 9 after he hit the boy but Bianzon said the victim’s father had talked about settling the matter with him and his employer.

In another accident, a tricycle collided with a school bus in Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod, at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday, Bianzon said.

He said he is still investigating who among the two drivers were at fault when they hit each other’s vehicles at an intersection.

The tricycle driver and his lone passenger sustained injuries and were brought to the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center while no one was hurt in the bus but its windshield was damaged.*PP
