| Charges of reckless imprudence resulting to multiple homicide with damage to property will be filed against the driver of a truck for the death of four, including the Sangguniang Kabataan president of Sagay City, in EB Magalona, the police said yesterday.
Chief Inspector Samuel Mina, EB Magalona police chief, said the charges will be filed against Roland Pasigado, 26, of Barangay Culo, Pulupandan, the driver of an Isuzu six-wheeler truck owned by Kim Marketing with Plate No. CAW 574.
His office has the papers ready for filing, they are just waiting for the families of the victims, Mina said.
Pasigado is currently detained at the E.B. Magalona police jail.
The truck driven by Pasigado hit a white Honda Civic ESI with Plate No. TKT 649 along the highway in Barangay Tabigue, E.B. Magalona, at 5:55 p.m. Saturday.
Killed on the spot was Mini Magdalene Jerez Junatas, 39, her SK Federation president son Gene Noel Junatas, 17, and their driver Allan Carmona, 26, all of Barangay Paraiso, Sagay City.
Junatas’ 6-year-old daughter, Ann Margaret, died at the Pablo O. Torres Memorial Hospital in Bacolod City early Saturday morning.
The death of Magdalene and her two children left seaman Erjo Junatas with his entire family dead.
A relative said Erjo, who was working as a seaman on a luxury vessel in Florida when his family was killed in the accident, was inconsolable. He is expected to arrive in Bacolod today.
The death of the SK president of Sagay who was so young and his family, is very sad, Acting Negros Occidental Gov. Isidro Zayco said.
Zayco extended his condolences to the Junatas family on the tragedy that befell them.
He also called on the Department of Public Works to put up the proper signages to help prevent accidents along the highway. The site where the Junatas family was killed is an accident prone area.*CPG
