IN BACOLOD
Man stabbed to death
over firecrackers’ use 1

A 20-year-old man was stabbed to death over the use of firecrackers in Bacolod City late Friday, the police said yesterday.

Arthur Carmelo of Purok Malvar Cubay, Brgy, Villamonte, Bacolod, was declared dead on arrival at the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center, when he was stabbed on the chest by Michael Hechanova of Purok Consuelo, Brgy. 41, Bacolod, at about 11:45 p.m. Friday, PO1 Orlando Caporal of Police Station 4, said.

Hechanova is still at-large along with his cousin identified only through his surname, Vallador, while his other cousin, surnamed Cañete, was detained at the station, Police Station 4 commander, Chief Inspector Santiago Rapiz, said.

Rapiz said Hechanova and his two relatives ganged up on Carmelo after the victim complained about Michael’s use of firecrackers.

He said they are waiting for Carmelo’s family to present witnesses so charges could be filed against the suspects.

A number of onlookers told them what happened, but no one is willing to testify yet, Rapiz said.*PP
