reach TKP semis

Probac drubbed undermanned BBC, 91-78, while the Province of Negros Occidental squandered a late lead, before recovering for an 85-83 victory Tuesday to reach the semifinals of the Class A division of the 8th Tan Kek Pin Cup Memorial Basketball Tournament at the Po Hang Gym.

The wins gave Probac and Province slots in the single-round semifinals which begin today. Talisay and undefeated World of Fun clinched automatic semis seats after topping the elimination round.

After holding a slim 39-38 edge at halftime, Probac came up big in the second half as Mark Sabusap and Ryan Concha put the finishing touches in the searing assault sparked by Paolo Li, Ariston Sillana and Chad Paez in the third period.

Musso beats A.C.;
Balsy five prevails

Musso Enterprise entered the second round of 1st YBAC Loyalty Cup basketball tournament with a confidence-boosting 84-77 win over A.C. Parts while Balsy Ventures beat PGO Construction, 69-63, in their recent outing.

Francis Muños led Musso scorers with 16 points while Sam Cordova made 14 and Manuel Carreon and Carlos Centeno contributed 10 points each for the victorious Musso squad.

A.C. Parts has the advantage in the closing of the second half, leading by three points at 28-25,  but failed to capitalize on it despite Ernie Castillo’s 17 points total output and Eric Abanilla’s 15 markers. Ricky Soleto added 12 and Manuel Padilla scored 10 points for A.C. Parts.

Victorias bowlfest
slated Saturday

The 1st Victorias City Charter Day Duckpin Open Trio Bowling Tournament dubbed the “Mayor Severo Palanca Cup” rolls off Saturday at the Victorias Coliseum Super Bowling Alley in Negros Occidental.

Hosted by the Negros Professional Bowlers Club headed by Gil Villagante, the tournament is a six-game series event where the top three squads will vie for the top prize in the two-day activity.

Mayor Palanca will be the guest of honor and speaker at the curtain raiser, while NPBC vice president Steve Po will deliver the opening remarks.
