| The “Alta Costura” or High Fashion organized by students of La Consolacion College will be held at Robinsons Place Fountain Area in Bacolod City, 3 p.m. Sunday, a press release from LCC said.
The competition of creations in five categories is the annual culminating activity of the Fine Arts students in Fashion and Costume Design of the LCC School of Architecture, Fine Arts and Interior Design.
The ARFIEN is celebrating its 45th anniversary this month.
Categories are the fantasy inspired “Fantasia Majika;” and “Lipad Pinoy,” which will feature costumes of Filpino superheroes; “Some Enchanted Evening” - a showcase of high fashion gowns; “Parade of the Orient,” featuring Orient inspired costumes; and “Paper Brides,” the climax of the show, showcasing bridal gowns, bouquets and veils made of Japanese tissues, tracing, krepe, kraft and handmade papers, the press release said.
Twenty aspiring designers will vie for the award in each category, as well as the most promising artist, best headdress, best costume and best model honors.
Contest judges are Bacolod designers John John Ditching and Lourdes Lipa, director Bobby Benedicto, and two faculty members of LCC-Bacolod, the press release added.*

Hundreds meet relic
The Relic of St. Therese of the Child Jesus was welcomed yesterday by hundreds of students, residents, and the clergy and religious in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, a press release from the city said.
The relic was brought to the cathedral where a Concelebrated Mass was officiated by Kabankalan Bishop Patricio Buzon. Mayor Pedro Zayco Jr., in his welcome remarks before the Mass, hoped the pilgrimage would inspire Kabankalanons.
Buzon reminded the faithful that, like St. Therese, they should not only be concerned about their personal good but that of the many.
Also present were Zayco’s wife, Dottie, Vice Mayor Delia Anacan and Councilors Raul Rivera and Jo-an Cagape. The relic was brought back to Bacolod City at 3:30 p.m. yesterday, the press release added.*

Lenten pilgrimage set in city
The Bacolod City Tourism Office will hold a free Lenten Pilgrimage and Cultural Tour dubbed “Visita Iglesia” on March 18 and 19, Holy Tuesday and Holy Wednesday, respectively, a City Hall press release said.
Participants will visit seven churches and have a Reflection of the Fourteen Stations of the Cross, with a guided tour along the route.
The pilgrimage tour is part of Mayor Evelio Leonardia's efforts to promote the city as a tourist destination for religious and cultural events, the press release said.

Barangays
receive IRA share
Fourteen out of the 61 barangays in Bacolod City have complied with the Solid Waste Management Barangay-Based Requirement for the release of their Internal Revenue Allotment share for this year, a City Hall press release said yesterday.
The total IRA share of the 61 barangays is P132 million.
The requirements are programs of work duly signed by barangay kagawads, resolutions of barangay officials signed by both the Punong Barangay and Kagawads, and an affidavit of undertaking signed by the barangay captain, the press release said.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia has designated Councilor Greg Gasataya as chairman of the Barangay-based Solid Waste Task Force, which is in charge of evaluating and approving the release of IRA share to barangays, the press release added.*
