SP tackles 2nd reading of PHINO ordinance

The second reading of the proposed Provincial Health Insurance in Negros Oriental authored by Board Member Marcelo Adanza is set today, at the Capitol Session Hall in Dumaguete City.

“Theoretically, it is a good ordinance and is very advantageous for everybody,” Vice Gov. Jose Baldado said.

Having been a mayor for 21 years in Manjuyod town, and in his third term as vice governor, he added that indigents always seek medical assistance.

The ordinance will prevent abuse by poor residents who would present recycled receipts, he said, stressing that there are more benefits under PHINO, than from PhilHealth.

This is not a dole-out, though, but is cheaper, Baldado added.*JG
