Bike for a cause
slated tomorrow
BY MARICAR ARANAS

The Gender Watch Against Violence and Exploitation will spearhead the “Men Against Violence” bike for a cause in commemoration of the International Women’s Day tomorrow in Dumaguete City.

The event will start at the Freedom Park at 7 a.m. and will end at the Amlan Park. Bikers from Dumaguete will converge with participants from  the municipality of San Jose.

The Youth Advocates Through Arts, a group of artists from different schools and universities in Dumaguete, will present laws protecting women and children against violence.

Among the objectives of the event are to promote peace, respect and honor in the values of men toward women and children in Negros Oriental, and to help build communities where men do not use violence against women and children in the home or community, organizers said.

GWAVE is also urging Negrenses to end all forms of abuses and exploitation, and called for an increased awareness for the protection of women and children’s rights.*MA
