Cooperative bank opens;
to assist SME members

Acting Gov. Isidro Zayco said the soft opening of the Negros Cooperative Bank in Bacolod City yesterday will help the financial needs of cooperative members, such as those engaged in small and medium scale businesses, in Negros Occidental.

The NCB, whose creation was initiated by Gov. Joseph Marañon, will be formally opened on his birthday on March 19, Zayco said.

Fr. Aniceto Buenafe blessed the bank building located in the Capitol Lagoon Park along North Capitol Road in Bacolod City yesterday, after which initial deposits were accepted, Nestor Bayona, provincial government consultant on cooperatives, said.

Confab to tackle
sustainable agri dev’t

Around 50 representatives from various sectors converge in Bacolod City starting today for the two-day Visayas Agricultural Roadmapping Conference-Workshop: “Transforming Philippine Agriculture through Sound and Coherent Farm, Trade and Rural Development Policies” at the Check Inn Pension.

The gathering, which hosts farmers, agrarian reform beneficiaries, millers, planters and participants from non-government organizations, the academe, local governments and national government agencies, is being organized by the Fair Trade Alliance and the Center for Research and Special Studies in collaboration with the Philippine Rural Reconstruction Movement-Negros.

Panaad kiosks
reservations start March 15

Reservations for rental of kiosks for this year’s Pana-ad sa Negros Festival will be from March 15 to April 22 at the Panaad Park Administrator’s Office in Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City, a press release from the Capitol said.

Ninety-one slots are available for food kiosks at P5,000 per kiosk; 64 slots for dry goods at P5,000; 27 slots for gardens  at P2,000; and 38 slots  for selling of ice cream/shakes/hotdogs at P5,000 each.

Reservations for dry goods and garden kiosks will be on a first come, first served basis. The raffle for food kiosk locations will be held on April 23.
