resolveslapping, punching incident

A field trip that turned into a slapping and punching incident between a group of Silliman University students was finally resolved without going to court.

The conflict was resolved at a conciliation meeting Friday, conducted by the History and Political Science Department of Silliman University with Prof. Rosalind Ablir representing the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.

The meeting was convened to hear the side of Nilo Sayson Jr. and Demetrio Acuba, who both claimed to be the aggrieved parties.

Sayson Jr. claimed he was threatened while the field trip was going on in Cebu.

On the other hand, Acuba claimed he was boxed by Sayson’s relatives upon arrival at the port of Dumaguete .

Parents of Sayson Jr. and Acuba would have wanted the issue settled in court, but an out-of-court settlement was reached with both students apologizing to each other.*JG
