athletes grab limelight

Regional Palaro-bound athletes Rolando Uberas, Ana Marie Jagocoy, and Mary Joy Caporas came through with multiple golden finishes to power the high school team of Bacolod City to the title in the NOTAFA Age-Group Athletic Competition Saturday at the University of St. La Salle oval in Bacolod City Saturday.

Sharing the spotlight with the Bacolod athletes were the Kabankalan standouts, who topped the elementary division with 19 top finishes.

Uberas, and Jagocoy finished the tournament with five gold medals, the same output of Kevin Liboon. Caporas won four gold medals for Bacolod City, which collected 27 golds.

Probac, Bapro prevail

Probac and Bapro geared up for its respective quarterfinal showdowns by downing the Province of Negros Occidental and BBC, respectively, Saturday night in the class A division of the 8th Tan Kek Pin Cup Memorial Basketball Tournament.

Tommy Andren waxed hot with eight triples en route to a game-high 28 points that carried Bapro past BBC, 106-91, and clinch the fifth spot in division, before Probac hammered out a 90-81 triumph over Province.

Bapro was to play Province late yesterday, before Probac and BBC clash. The winners will join Talisay and World of Fun in the semifinals.

Amor stuns NPBC
for bowling crown

Amor Adobo/ASSFBI downed the twice-to-beat Negros Professional Bowlers and Sharp to bag the men’s title, while Condura ASSFBI Ladies stopped Lady Dragon in the finals in the Knights of Columbus Open Trio Bowling Tournament Sunday night at the New Top’s Millennium Plaza Alley in Bacolod City.

In the individual contest, Mandoy Hervias of Sharp, Sylvia Del Rosario and July Borlado, of the ASSFBI champion teams won the master’s bowler titles in their respective divisions.

Hervias won in the premiere Class A bracket, Del Rosario triumphed in the women’s side and Borlado topped the non-rated department.
