Breast cancer awareness
campaign set in province
BY MARICAR ARANAS

The Cancer Support Group in Negros Oriental will  hold  a Mini Cancer Fair in Mabinay, Negros Oriental, on March 9 and in Sta. Catalina on March 29, organizers said.

The project is in line  with  the Breast Cancer  Awareness  Campaign nationwide.

There  will  be  free breast consultation  and  a conference  with different  women  organizations,  in order  to  help  increase breast cancer  awareness.

The Cancer Support Group is composed of 15 women volunteers whose mission is to help  breast cancer patients and organize cancer survivors.

Judith Alpuerto, member of the CSG, said information and education is  very vital in the  fight  against  the disease. Some survivors admitted early detection was the reason why  they have survived breast cancer, she added.

Alpuerto said they will also ask   help from  the  provincial  government  and the Rotary  Club  for  medical  assistance to the victims.

The   group is now looking into women victims of violence   who   might be possible victims  of  breast cancer,  she added.

At present , the  Kababayen-an Buhata! Womens   group in  Santa  Catalina  is  one  of  the  active  groups helping  in  the campaign  against  breast cancer.*MA
