| Talisay City, University of St. La Salle, and Queen of Peace School scored three victories over the weekend to surge ahead the 18th NOVA-NOCSF Age-Grop Volleyball Championship held at the USLS covered court in Bacolod City.
Talisay volleybelles were undefeated in girls 14-under as they subdued La Consolacion College, 25-7, 25-13; and St. Joseph School-La Salle 25-10, 25-15 in their Saturday games and turned back Silay team in three sets, 25-23, 13-25, 25-16 yesterday morning.
In the boys’ department, USLS prevailed over St. Benilde and against LCC in 12 and 16-under and against Silay in girls 14-under.
Boys from Queen of Peace School captured the attention of the crowd in 14-under as it bounced back from a three-set loss to La Consolacion Academy-Murcia (25-22, 17-25, 25-19) to overpower SJS-LS (25-19, 25-21), then went on to demolish USLS (25-20, 25-21) and capped the weekend with a thrilling 25-23, 25-23 win against NOHS.
St. John’s Institute made its mark in girls 12-under, breezing through its Saturday assignment against Trinity Christian School (25-6, 25-15) and against St. Benilde (25-15, 25-10) yesterday afternoon.
Silay girls beat La Carlota, 25-13, 25-20 in 12-under and Bacolod City National High School, 25-16, 29-27 in 14-under to score two wins in the tournament.
Negros Occidental High School also registered victories in girls 16-under against St. Theresita’s Academy, 25-11, 25-8; and against Flores Elementary School, 25-21, 24-26, 26-24, in boys 14-under.
La Consolacion Academy-Murcia duplicated its impressive performance against QPS in boys 14-under with another win, this time, against USLS, 25-11, 25-5.
Registering a win each were Colegio de San Agustin-Bacolod, La Carlota, Rafael Alunan Elementary School, LCA-Murcia, Bacolod City National High School, Mansilingan Christian Academy, and St. Joseph School-La Salle.*NAB
