Nine more new partners of the Small and Medium Enterprise Development for Sustainable Employment Program in other provinces in Western Visayas are also offering business development services for small and medium enterprises in the top sectors of the region.
Two partners in Negros Occidental, the Multi-Sectoral Alliance for Development-Negros and the Negros Economic Development Foundation Inc., were launched on Feb. 26 Bacolod City.
The BDS partners in Capiz were introduced on Feb. 21; Guimaras, Feb. 22; Aklan, Feb. 27; and Iloilo, Feb. 28.


Groups to hold
protest vs. coal plant
ILOILO CITY—Environmental and religious groups will hold a big protest rally on Wednesday against the proposed construction of a coal-fired power plant in the city.
Organizers of the protest said the rally will be held in commemoration of the fourth anniversary of the rejection of a proposed coal plant project in Banate town in Iloilo. The project was shelved because of widespread protests from the community and environmental groups.
Protesters coming from various organizations, parishes and schools will assemble at the Sta. Teresita Church at 1:30 p.m. before marching to the grounds of the provincial capitol where a prayer rally and program will be held. 


Globe, DTI team up for OTOP
The Department of Trade and Industry has partnered with Globe in the implementation of the One Town, One Product Philippines program, a press release from Globe said.
OTOP Philippines, which seeks to establish three million new businesses and create six to ten million jobs, allows local chief executives to take the lead in identifying, developing and promoting a specific product or service, which has a competitive advantage.
Globe said it supports OTOP Philippines because its goals coincide with their thrust to support nation-building through small and medium enterprise development, the press release said.
