‘Walk for Truth’ today

Gabriela-Negros will hold a “Walk for Truth” today, its secretary general Ma. Rina Amacio said yesterday.

The walk for truth will start 6 a.m. from the Provincial Lagoon to the Fountain of Justice where women leaders from various sectors will release balloons carrying their demands, a Gabriela-Negros press release said.

The walk for truth will commence the weeklong commemoration of the 100th year of International Women’s Day.

One hundred years ago, on March 8, 1908 more than 15,000 women marched through New York City to demand shorter working hours, just pay and the right to vote.

The weeklong Gabriela activities carry the theme: “Kababaehan Mag-isa! Pamatukan ang korapsyon, pagpang ulipon kag Pagpamigos sang Rehimeng US-Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (Women Unite! Fight corruption and oppression of the US-Gloria Macapagal Arroyo regime)”.*
